Vertical and Horizontal Balance refers to team members intentionally leveraging the natural creative tension between roles focused on vertical versus horizontal performance improvement. Figure G.19 shows a complete system of roles in an enterprise team matrix. This balance is especially critical in stage 3 Distributed Leadership companies.
