Our Team
Every day we partner with clients to solve this puzzle: How to best lead change and developmental journeys to break free of the swirl and create the conditions for exceptional business success and value.
Our Story
Let’s start with why we do what we do. People come together in organizations to shape a collective and desired future. We are dedicated to helping leaders run better organizations because we care deeply about the future that we can create for them and ourselves.
As lore has it, Growth River founder Richard Hawkes created a company called Crazy Growth in 2001. His inspiration came from his conviction that growth is possible only if certain key conditions are created. This conviction was steeped in having worked for years with top leaders and thinkers in business consulting.
In 2007, while meeting with future partner Robert DeSimone in the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria, the name Growth River emerged. Navigating rivers is a fitting metaphor for leading organizations, because leadership requires a trained eye to read the currents, stay in the flow, and anticipate the obstacles ahead of time.
Our client engagements, some enduring for well over a decade, are a testament to our frameworks and the relevance of the 7 Crucial Conversations for guiding organizations and teams towards success.
In 2011, a nonprofit client invited Growth River to one of its hospitals in southern Cambodia to lead a high-performance team workshop. This assignment seemed so exciting that everyone at Growth River agreed to travel to Cambodia. Because of this experience and the days of conversations, Growth River Germany was founded, and Growth River USA expanded.
In the following years, while working across diverse industries, Growth River’s current approach has been thoroughly refined. Leaders and teams are using our frameworks to surface and resolve primary constraints and clarify priorities – especially those complex challenges that hold the greatest opportunity for return on investment. Growth River has also created a unique and turnkey platform to support our partners to build and grow industry verticals and practices.
Our Philosophy
We are an international consultancy that pragmatically and systematically guides organizations, leaders, and teams on results-based developmental journeys.
Our vision is to enable organizations, leaders, and teams to free themselves from the swirl.
Our mission is to shift corporate leader mindsets and behaviors through intentional ways of working and addressing the blockers to higher performance they are asked to confront every day.
Our core tenet is that organizations and teams can achieve so much more than individuals can accomplish on their own.
